The Right Is Ours! is about the extraordinary friendship of two women, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony, whose efforts spurred the creation of the Women’s Suffragist Movement, and the impact of that relationship on the suffragist movement and women winning the right to vote. "The Right is Ours!” is a powerful slogan created by Elizabeth.

The show is written and directed by Lloyd J. Schwartz, famous for The Brady Bunch and Gilligan's Island. His interest in true history stories has led him to write and direct award-winning plays about Dr. Mary Walker, John Wilkes Booth, the relationship between Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson, and many others. He has written 43 produced plays of all kinds from children’s theatre to heavy drama. His Off-Broadway musical, The Babies, had a run recently in New York City at the St. Luke’s Theatre. He has written, directed, and/or produced all the nineteen Storybook Theatre musicals during its 37-year run at Theatre West. Lloyd wrote/co-wrote and directed INDEPENDENCE: The True Story of Dr. Mary Walker and An Evening with John Wilkes Booth, two of the shows we presented at Sierra Madre Playhouse's Solo Shows Festival in 2022.

The music and lyrics are by Adryan Russ, whose work is well-known in theater and film. Her Off-Broadway musical Inside Out has gone on to play all over the United States and internationally. She has co-written the musicals Love Again and iGhost. She first teamed up with Lloyd J. Schwartz over the children’s musical, The Ugly Duckling. Adryan has written songs for movies and TV including Doubt, Netflix’s Holidate, and the recent Disney+ blockbuster hit WandaVision. Barry White recorded her song “The Better Love Is, The Worse It Is When It’s Over,” and Sue Raney recorded “Late In Life,” co-written with Shelly Markham. Adryan is a longtime member of ASCAP, The Dramatists Guild, the Recording Academy (NARAS), and has served on the Board of the Society of Composers & Lyricists. 

Choreographer Kay Cole brings a unique and timely vision to all her creative endeavors, from her London West End production of Snoopy, to her Off-Broadway show Desperate Writers which she also directed. On Broadway and on film she directed Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks. She has many, many other credits as choreographer and director and performer, including choreographing Camelot at the Hollywood Bowl and performing in the original Broadway cast of A Chorus Line.

Orchestrator Kat Sherrell is a multi-faceted composer, performer and lyricist, and is currently touring as musical director with the national company of Hamilton. She has arranged many musicals in all varieties from children’s theatre and…ironically… to her own song cycle about Suffragists. 

Musical Director Gregory Nabours is a composer/lyricist, music director for a variety of theaters and performers. His song cycle, The Trouble With Words, was produced by Coeurage in 2011, and earned him the 2011 Ovation Award for Best Music and Lyrics for an Original Musical, as well as Best Musical in the Hollywood Fringe Festival. His work on the intimate production of The Color Purple earned him many awards, including the 2012 Ovation Award.
